The purpose of this study is to investigate the roots of this phenomenon in the contemporary history of Iran and its evolution. This article, by referring to historical sources and conducting a documentary research, examines the structural roots of this phenomenon and examines its evolution by referring to official statistics. The theory used is the theory that Zahed introduced in the book Marginalization in 1986 and based on it, he has conducted several researches on migration and migrations leading to marginalization. In this article, it becomes clear that the roots of marginalization are in the way of structuring development in Iran, which began in the middle of the Qajar period and intensified in the second Pahlavi period with American development plans. After the Islamic Revolution, due to not changing the centralized development plans and trying to repair the superstructure of the plans and empower the residents of the marginalized areas, but this phenomenon still remains and its dimensions have been increasing day by day. At the end of the article, the efforts are made to change the direction of development, growth and development and use a decentralized strategy. حاشیه‌نشینی یک از آسیب‌های مهم اجتماعی بوده که بیش از 80 سال است در جامعهٔ ما بروز کرده و تمهیداتی که تاکنون برای رفع آن به کار گرفته‌شده، کارساز نبوده است. هدف از این تحقیق، واکاوی ریشه‌های این پدیده در تاریخ معاصر ایران و سیر تحولی آن است. این مقاله با مراجعه به منابع تاریخی و با انجام یک تحقیق سندی ریشه‌های ساختاری این پدیده را موردبررسی قرار داده و سیر تحول آن را با مراجعه به آمارهای رسمی بررسی کرده است. نظریهٔ مورداستفاده نظریه‌ای است که زاهد در سال 1365 در کتاب حاشیه‌نشینی معرفی کرده و بر اساس آن تحقیق‌های متعددی در مورد مهاجرت و مهاجرت‌های منجر به حاشیه‌نشینی به انجام رسانده است. در این مقاله روشن می‌شود که ریشه‌های حاشیه‌نشینی در طرز ساختار سازی توسعه در ایران است که از میانه‌های دورهٔ قاجار آغاز شده و در دوران پهلوی دوم و با برنامه‌های توسعهٔ آمریکائی تشدید شده است. بعد از انقلاب اسلامی به علت تغییر ندادن برنامه‌های تمرکزگرای توسعه و تلاش درترمیم روبنایی برنامه‌ها و توانمندسازی ساکنین مناطق حاشیه‌نشین تغییراتی صورت گرفته، اما همچنان این پدیده باقی مانده و روزبه‌روز بر ابعاد آن افزوده شده است. در انتها مقاله به تلاش‌های صورت گرفته برای تغییر مسیر توسعه، رشد و پیشرفت و استفاده از راهبرد غیر تمرکزگرا می‌پردازد. https://issh.shahed.ac.ir/article_3755_2cb030056f827859e3fc861f0d40d5b3.pdf
